From Coal Miners Daughter to Farmers Daughter

Growing up my dad worked hard in the coal mines to be able to provide for our family. After many years underground the coal mines took a toll on his back leading to surgery. The surgery brought an end to his career in the mines.

Now he spends his time raising a garden and selling at the local Farmers Market. He and I both found a real passion for the Farmers Market and love spending our Saturday mornings of the market season with the other growers and the people of the community.

Here is a link to an article recently done about my Dad. I hope you enjoy!

The time is always right to do what is right.

Happy Martin Luther King Day! In honor of MLK I had the day off from work and the boys had the day off from school. It was a warm beautiful day here in the mountains of Southeastern Kentucky so we took full advantage of that and went on a winter hike.

It was our first hike of this year and it was beautiful. We drove to Harlan County to hike Blanton Forest, the largest old-growth forest in the state of Kentucky. Knobby Rock Loop is
the trail we decided on taking today. I believe the trail is about 2.7 miles to the top and back. Here are a few pictures from todays adventure.

Take time to walk in nature to feel and to know her beauty!

Allow me to introduce myself

Hello, my name is Abby, a single mother of three young men just trying to survive. We have had our share of bad times in the past but are on a good path now on our own. Needless to say raising three boys alone can be a challenge for not only myself but them as well but we make the most of it.

I am from the mountains of southeastern Kentucky and I take much pride in that and I love to promote all the great things our area has to offer.

You can find me anywhere from sitting behind my desk to in a garden, at the farmers market, in the mountains hiking, out to dinner in my heels on a Saturday night to church on Sunday morning.

I hope you enjoy my blog!
